Harlan Newspapers Internship
During the summer of 2021, I worked as a reporting intern at the Harlan Newspapers in Harlan, Iowa. The Harlan Newspapers has won nearly 300 state and national awards for its contributions to community journalism. Here are a few samples of stories I wrote during my internship, ranging from features to hard news.
Local town histories
A series
During my internship, I designed a four-part series exploring some of the important histories of nearby towns. As a newcomer to the area, I was interested in the local history and trivia that surrounded the county. I sifted through history books and chatted with locals to discover what was unique about Western Iowa.
